Today we're showing you all how to make this beautiful lotus flower and it's lillypad. We're even showing you a cool display setting for it!
We decided to take on a challenge, one we haven't taken before. Make a plant out of clay!
We knew we could do it, we just weren't sure of the outcome. Glad to say, it came out beautifully! We were happy with the final look and it's made us think more about creating things from our very own hands!
There was something magical about this project. Pushing yourself outside your usual crafting comfort zones, but also, just seeing something come together from your hands and what you envisioned standing right before your eyes. It just feels like you can let your imagination run loose, the sky is the limit! Anything is now possible.
So if you haven't used clay before, or sculpted something, do try. I promise you, it isn't as hard as it seems or looks! It's so rewarding putting it all together. Even the painting process was fun! I hadn't painted anything in years! Adding all the shades and details was pretty relaxing too!
We've put together a tutorial for this beautiful piece. You can make the lotus flower alone, or add it to the pad we've also shown you how to make. You can then go a step further and make a water display for it just as we have done. All in all, this was a success and makes a lovely center piece in your home, or a beautiful handmade gift to someone.
What you will need:
- Clay- We used air drying clay. You can use Polymer Clay.
- Paint- Red, White, Yellow, Green.
- Artificial plants (optional- for surrounding environment in display)
- Hair gel- light blue, epoxy resin can also be used.
- Glass container or mason jar.
- Scissors or pliers.
- Glue gun.
That's it, you're good to go!
Watch the tutorial here, don't miss out on all the fun!
